Juan Nepumuceno Almonte and his conservative junta government are discussed often in the letters. Four of the letters are from Adrian Woll and several are from Ramón Carvallo, González's godfather.

Colonel in the Mexican military; public servant. Dates of birth and death unknown. González was in Matamoros in 1853 when Adrian Woll, then Gobernador y Comandante General de Tamaulipas, assigned González to the military. In 1862 González was appointed subsecretary of the Ministry of War and Navy by Juan Nepumuceno Almonte.
